BlackBerry 7 and 7.1 Operating Systems evaluated for Australian and New Zealand Governments Use

In merger with the release at present of the BlackBerry 7.1 OS (Operating System) in Australian market, RIM (Research In Motion) announced that the BlackBerry smartphones running in the BlackBerry® 7.1 and 7.0 OS have been successfully approved and evaluated for Government use by DSD (Defense Signals Directorate) of the Government of Australia. The certification from the Defense Signals Directorate affirms that BlackBerry 7 OS meets the strict security standards of the New Zealand and Australian Government for a broad range of Governments’ information classifications, which representing the mass of everyday operational communications.

 

The BlackBerry 7.1 and7.0 OS, when used in agreement with Government guidance that can be used to make safe the information with a categorization of up to as well as including PROTECTED for the Government of Australia and up to as well as including RESTRICTED for the Government of New Zealand. Manager of Research In Motion, Security Certifications, Scott Deacon said that, with the Defense Signals Directorate approval of BlackBerry 7, the RIM continues to lead the business when it comes to meeting the safety certification requirements of governments in the world.
